Manage IT Blog

Lori's Blog
I have an IT Management blog here --  This blog contains a mixture of techie-tips and leadership/management topics.

RSS Feeds that are Worth a Look
One of the challenges we all face is keeping up-to-date on the latest happenings. I've found Google Reader to be extremely helpful as a tool to gather interesting blogs/podcasts in one area. Quick tips:
  • If you don't already have a Google account, create one.
  • From Google Reader, you can add subscriptions by clicking 'add a subscription' and pasting the feed URL.
  • Alternatively, from the blog site, look for the RSS feed and add it to your Google Reader.
  • After identifying blogs of interest, Google Reader will provide a centralized place to manage all of the feeds. Simply click on the subscription name to see a summarized list of posts. To read a post, just click.

Here are some blogs I subscribe to:

Fun Podcasts my Kids Like
  • MuggleCast: I found the MuggleNet site and thought my kids would like it. My daughter says "MuggleCast is very interesting for those addicted to the Harry Potter books". The folks who run this site are serious Harry Potter freaks. Podcast topics range from predictions on future books and/or movies, to comparisons of events and meanings of various portions of the books. You can find MuggleCast here.
  • MonsterPod: Specifically, Creation Festival! MonsterPod is a collection of video and podcasts on a wide range of topics, including Religion. Creation Festival used MonsterPod this year to post video clips and podcasts of the concert events. If you are into modern christian music, this is a good site to check out.
