ManagingIT Blog

I have an IT Management blog here --  This blog contains a mixture of techie-tips and leadership/management topics.

RSS Feeds that are worth a look:

Steve Farber's Extreme Leadership: stevefarber.com

Creative Energy Officer blog: creativeenergyblog.wordpress.com

Network Security: www.merit.edu/mail.archives/netsec/index.html

Malware City (I catch it as a twitter feed): www.malwarecity.com

Bruce Schneier's blog: www.schneier.com/blog

Here is a list of techie podcasts I listen to regularly:

  • PaulDotCom: Security podcast with entertainment value. The hosts assume you already have the networking and security basics.
  • SecurityNow: More of a beginner's podcast -- I listen in every now and then when they have an interesting topic. Recently, they covered tor (The Onion Router) in some detail. The security expert on the podcast is Steve Gibson and the host is Leo Lapport. Leo is part of TechTV and TWiT (This Week in Tech)...he has many podcasts at this site.
  • Blue Box Podcast: Is fun to hit when you need a VoIP update. They did a great podcast at a VoIP conference, but I haven't listened in lately.
  • Friends in Tech: Has some hands-on podcasts that I always plan to do, but never actually get around to doing. Their cross-site scripting hands-on podcast sounded like tons of fun. But, the reality is that I listen in my car and I haven't yet figured out how to log into my web server while driving.
  • Enterprise Leadership: I recently started looking for 'leadership' type of podcasts and found this one to be interesting.

Fun podcasts my kids like:

  • MuggleCast: I found the MuggleNet site and thought my kids would like it. My daughter says "MuggleCast is very interesting for those addicted to the Harry Potter books". The folks who run this site are serious Harry Potter freaks. Podcast topics range from predictions on future books and/or movies, to comparisons of events and meanings of various portions of the books. You can find MuggleCast here.
  • MonsterPod: Specifically, Creation Festival! MonsterPod is a collection of video and podcasts on a wide range of topics, including Religion. Creation Festival used MonsterPod this year to post video clips and podcasts of the concert events. If you are into modern christian music, this is a good site to check out.
